Tametara mirim
Tametara (lit. ‘adorned’) is an extinct genus of stem snake from the Late Cretaceous period, specifically identified in the Adamantina Formation of Brazil during the Santonian–Campanian ages.
The genus contains a single species, Tametara mirim, which is known from a partially articulated skull and skeleton. Its preservation provides significant insight into the morphology of early snake lineages.
Alongside other genera such as Dinilysia, Najash, and Sanajeh, Tametara is one of the only Mesozoic snakes known from articulated and three-dimensionally preserved fossils.
