Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) enables data transfer from one computer’s memory to another’s memory without affecting either computer’s operating system. This capability enables high-speed, low-latency network formation, which is especially important for large, parallel computer clusters.

Despite the fact that InfiniBand (a link used in high-performance computing) is superior to many technological alternatives in terms of RDMA, its commercial future is uncertain.
